When and where will my session take place?

The best time to book your session is as soon as possible -- to make sure we can have a date that works for you and your family. Once we have booked, we can start preparing for your shoot. I will email you a small questionnaire to get to know you a little better. We can also have a in person pre-session consultation if you are in Issaquah/Seattle or by phone if you prefer.

Sessions are held in your home or at an outdoor location within 15 miles of Issaquah. If you desire a locale further afield, we’ll discuss a surcharge and try to make it happen! Importantly, I am a natural light photographer so I tend to schedule outdoor sessions in the morning or in the evening when the light is yummier. We have had session at the Seattle Arboretum, Olympic Sculpture Park, Gilman Boulevard -- just to name some. Rainy days are fun to shoot in too but if you are not a big fan -- the session can be held at my little home- based studio.

How long will my session be?

Family and child sessions last for approximately 1.5 hours. Couple sessions last for approximately 1 hour.

In all my session, the first 30 mins is me just getting to know your family and making you and your family comfortable and relaxed. I want you to love this session just as much as I will. The idea is to have them be themselves -- silliness and all. I am a very open minded person so look forward to hearing your ideas and what you want out of OUR session together and I promise to try my best and up to my ability to incorporate them

When will I get my pictures?

The turnaround time is 3 weeks. When your images are ready, you will receive the edited high-resolution digital files delivered via direct download. Your images will be displayed in a private online gallery for viewing, sharing, and optional a la carte print and canvas ordering. Your gallery will have a minimum of 25 edited images.

What should I wear?

Choose a color scheme, specifically, pick a couple of colors and choose clothes that fit in that color scheme. Avoid having everyone wear the exact same color (especially when it’s all white or all black). Think about where you will be showcasing your happy family photos and whether your clothes also fit with the color scheme of your home. Patterns can be fun, but use them sparingly and proceed with caution. That is, not everyone in the photograph should be wearing a pattern. Remember, you want the image to showcase your family and to tell your unique story. If the clothes are too loud, it’s difficult to hear your story above the noise. Textures can be a lot of fun, proceed with reckless abandon. In other words, layer, layer, layer. Hats are a great way to quickly and easily change the look and introduce more variety into your photo session. For kids, try to avoid clothing with characters or brands (e.g., a big Nike swoosh), as these can be distracting and also date your image. Think timeless and classic. These images are going to be with you for a long time

What if my child is out of control?

I have two out of control children of my own! If we need to take a bit more time, we will. But I bet your kiddos will be just fine. Try to relax and not stress about their behavior. Remember, I’m there to capture authenticity and genuine emotion. In other words, there is no need to raise a moral human being during our brief photographic foray. And we still can't get anything done, we can always reschedule.
